Diane HM Mandell, MSSA LISW LCSW

Diane, our Senior Therapist, founded Family Counseling Center in 1993. As a caring enthusiastic, warm and solution oriented professional, she specializes in: Relationship Communication Tune Ups (premarital, relationship and married couples), self esteem coaching, healing loss and grief during life transition, Adoption issues, tools in parenting children with special needs, divorce care, 12 step recovery and codependency, women's issues (hormonal, life cycle). Diane attended Case Western Reserve one of the top 10 schools as rated by US News and World Report. She has spoken extensively in the media and for professional organizations. Joy A. Davis, LCSW
Joy brings almost 20 years of experience in the field. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, and general life adjustment issues for ages 12 and up. Joy received her master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1987 and has since worked in hospitals, schools, residential programs, and outpatient settings. In addition to meeting with her clients individually and as a family, Joy conducts various groups to include Body Image Therapy, Living with Depression, and Coping Skills for Women with Eating Disorders. She frequently incorporates artwork, music, structured journaling and guided imagery into sessions when clients wish to explore issues beyond the spoken word. Joy is known for her love of her work, her affirming, gentle-but-direct style and her ability to connect with clients in a real & personal way.

 

 

Judy Becker, MS, LMHC
Judy is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is adept at helping people tap into their inner resources and learn tools to create happy, successful lives. In an atmosphere of warmth and trust, Judy assists clients in building self-esteem, uncovering creative potential and forming healthy relationships. She works with clients who struggle with issues such as depression and anxiety, substance abuse, and deeply ingrained trauma, helping them emerge from the darkness with hope and promise. Judy welcomes the opportunity to assist you in creating the life you desire!

 

 

Jennifer Magganas, MA RMHCI

Jennifer is a Registered Mental Health Counselor with over 8 years of counseling experience. She successfully earned her Master’s of Art degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida. Jennifer specializes in counseling children, adolescents, and their families with the challenges of life changing events. She has extensive field experience working in various settings such as Hospice programs, community based care programs, in-home therapy, adolescent treatment facilities, and school based programs. Some areas of specialized treatment are grief and loss, behavior difficulties, depression, adjustment issues, and other related concerns. She also works with girls on specific issues impacting development of girls’ self image. Jennifer utilizes various and creative play therapy approaches to provide children with the opportunity to express their feelings. Play therapy allows children the means to use “play” as form of communication. Jennifer employs a warm and engaging style in her approach to therapy.

 

 

Eric Mandell BA MSW LCSW

Eric is an experienced therapist with five years of experience and specializes in men's issues for adults and children.  For adult males:  improving relationship communication, healing and increasing trust after an affair, addressing addictions, depression/anxiety, work and financial stressors, self esteem improvement, fatherhood, increasing energy levels. For adolescents and boys:  improving relationships at home, increasing self esteem, and tools for anger management.  He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. His down to earth, straight forward approach makes it easy for men to talk with him to find solutions in their lives.

  

 

Mandy McClellan LCSW
Mandy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in providing therapeutic support to young children and their families. She works with children who are struggling with social/emotional or behavioral issues in their home and/or school settings and incorporates parent-child relationship based interventions to promote healing through the medium of the child’s most important relationships. Mandy also has extensive experience working with children that have experienced traumas including abuse, neglect and exposure to violence. She uses play based therapy and parent coaching to help set young children and their families on a path toward healing and healthy development!
 

 

Susan Sorensen MSW

Susan, a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern, has eleven years experience as a school social worker. Her experience in this position included completing psychosocial and behavioral assessments, determining a students eligibility for special education services, and providing individual and group therapy. She specializes in working with children with Aspergers disorder, Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and emotional disabilities in improving their social skills. Poor social skills can lead to so many difficulties for children including problems in interpersonal relationships, difficulties in making friends, behavior problems, isolation from peers, and depression. She will be running 10 week social skills groups for these children. She also works with parents in helping their children to generalize their newly developed skills. She uses a variety of techniques including coaching, role playing/behavioral rehearsal, social stories, and more. The compassion and respect she shows her clients helps them to easily and quickly develop a good therapeutic relationship with her.
